Welcome to SkagitCounty.info. Our goal is to provide informationand links to Events and Activities in Skagit County as well as photos of recent events.

Skagit County is located in Northwest Washington between the ocean waters of the Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains. Skagit County maintains a relaxed, small-city atmosphere with a population of just over 100,000. Mount Vernon is the biggest city with a population of approx. 27,700. While the county enjoys a quiet, peaceful atmosphere, residents don't have to go too far to get to the bigger metropolitan areas nearby. The city of Seattle is located only one hour to the south and Bellingham, home of WWU, is only 30 minutes to the north. Also, the major metropolitan city of Vancouver, B.C. is just across the Canadian border only 1 1/2 hour drive away.

Skagit County offers a wide array of outdoor recreational opportunities for its residents. Water sports including boating, sailing, kayaking are popular with the county's easy access to the Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands are only a ferry ride away. You don't have to go far to get to beautiful forests and fresh water lakes either. There are numerous county and state parks perfect for fishing, hiking, camping and exploring the outdoors. Skagit County is also the gateway to the North Cascades National Park with its scenic wilderness and beautiful mountain vistas perfect for a day trip or longer getaway.


tulips Farming is an important part of Skagit County's economy which is best known for its tulip bulb industry. Washington Bulb Company is headquartered here and is the nation's largest producer of tulip, daffodil and iris bulbs. During the month of April, many tourists come to Skagit Valley to see the beautiful tulip fields and take part in the annual Tulip Festival.

Other annual events in the area include the Skagit County Fair in Mount Vernon, Loggerodeo 4th of July Celebration in Sedro-Woolley and the Skagit Valley Festival of Family Farms in October. Popular Anacortes events include the Arts Festival, Waterfront Festival and Jazz Festival while La Conner features a Summer Street Festival, Classic Yacht and Car Show and Art's Alive! Festival. Burlington events include Berry Dairy Days in June and a Harvest Festival in October. The annual Skagit River Shakespeare Festival and the Skagit Valley Highland Games and Celtic Festival take place in Mount Vernon's Edgewater Park.
